backpackers is finding a good hostel. While it may be a bit of a
struggle for some, these tips will help you identify what to look for
in your accommodation to make your vacation a safe and convenient
one.
- Location. If you’re off to see Great Barrier Reef, the beach is one of the things you’d be eyeing for. Choosing a location near the beach is always the best option as you can easily get access to the water anytime. It is also convenient to choose accommodation situated a few walks to the attractions and centres such as restaurants, bars or places where you can easily go and get what you need.
- Safety and security. Guaranteeing your safety is one of the most important considerations when choosing an accommodation. See if the place is safe for you and your belongings. Check locks, doors, bathroom, furniture, etc. Bringing some good-size locks for your packs is also wise.
- Cleanliness. When looking around, check if the place has clean showers, a good communal kitchen and decent beddings.
- Bed type. It is important to consider the type of room environment you wish to stay in. Do you mind staying in a mixed room? Does the place provide female only rooms? Or maybe you prefer a more private space?
- Space and size. This depends on your personal preference. Just make sure to choose a room where you are comfortable enough to walk around freely and sleep soundly.
- Facilities or Communal areas. The best thing about communal areas is it allows you to meet and make friends with other travellers. Look for accommodation that offers some of the great free facilities such as communal kitchens, Wi-Fi and other amenities that would make you feel at home.
