Heading to a Daintree Rainforest accommodation. |
The Daintree forest’s diverse mix of flora and
fauna, magnificent views and countless beaches make this region has become a
paradise for backpackers. So aside from booking an affordable Daintreerainforest accommodation, what are the other things that you must
prepare/expect when backpacking to this region?
Here’s are tips for a memorable backpacking experience:
Wear something light
The Daintree Rainforest has warm and humid weather.
Remember to wear comfortable, and lightweight clothing. Don’t forget to pack
walking shoes, a hat, and sunglasses. Applying sunscreen will protect you from
the strong tropical sun when you are not under the canopy.
Swim safe
Swimming in the Daintree is usually permitted.
However from November to June, see wasps or “stingers” come to the coastal
waters. Getting stung is quite painful and may be fatal in rare cases.
Crocodiles may also be present in far northern rivers and streams. Ask the
locals before swimming and be wary of signs warning you if crocodiles are in
the area.
If you booked for one of the Daintree
rainforest tours , make sure to listen to the rules from
the tour guide. Some simple rules are:
1)
Stay on the board walk. Tours generally follow the board walk, this will prevent you from
getting lost and keeps you safe.
2)
Do not feed the wild life. This is to keep the local wildlife from being dependent on people for
food. Some animals, like the cassowary, can also be aggressive when given food.
3)
Do not pick or remove
plants. Rainforests have a diversity of plants but this
doesn’t mean that each variety grows in huge numbers.
As some plants you will encounter on your tour are endangered, leave them in
their natural habitat.
